FURTHER SUCCESS FOR KEITH'S WRITING!

Following the Nidderdale Drama Festival, Keith Burton's original script for "The Journey" was entered into the Geoffrey Whitworth competition along with other original scripts submitted from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

'The Journey' was runner up, achieving a 'Highly Commended' rating from the judges, who found the writing had "echoes of Steinbeck", commenting that "the dialogue is immediate and realistic......the writer captures (the characters) with clarity and sensitivity".

They also said that  "..the gripping and moving story builds to an unsuspecting climax beautifully" and summed it up by calling it "....a  thought-provoking and extremely well-written play."
 
This is thought to be the first time a play from the NDDA region has been recognised in this competition, so Keith is understandably delighted, and looking forward to staging his latest work,  a full-length comedy,  "Grounds for Divorce", which we will present in October this year.
