All England Theatre Festival Semi Final 2018
After a sunny Bank Holiday weekend in Saltburn By The Sea, cast and crew of Keith Burton's On False Premises did the Society proud but failed to win by just 3 marks in the All England Semi-final.
Pateley Bridge Dramatic Society had won the local area round of the All England Drama Festival and went forward to the Northern Final which was held at Saltburn By The Sea on the 6th and 7th of May.
In coming second in the semi-final, the cast made a magnificent effort in coming to terms with a completely different stage and produced, in my view, the most entertaining of the six semi-final plays. In fact, many of the audience shared this view judging by the laughter and applause that this hilarious farce induced.
The back stage crew similarly rose to the occasion and great praise must go to those who helped in transporting the scenery and props, setting up the stage in the requisite time with props in place, successfully delivering the lighting plot and ensuring all the sound and effects occured on cue.
PBDS received nominations for all the awards presented but suprisingly won none of them! The nominations received were as follows:
Set Decor;
Best Actress - Karen Pollard;
Bes Actor - Brad Pollard;
Adjudicator's Award for significant contributions - Karen Pollard's "migraine moment".
